Business Value Joining the Tour Down Under

Hot on the heels of the announcement that South Australia’s Tour Down Under will become part of the world’s ProTour cycling series, another major event sponsor has been welcomed.

Tourism Minister Jane Lomax-Smith today welcomed property and construction company Hindmarsh to the team in 2008.

“Hindmarsh’s sponsorship of the first-ever ProTour race to be held outside of Europe adds another business industry sector to the event’s sponsorship portfolio,” Dr Lomax-Smith says.
Hindmarsh established in South Australia in 1985 and has been responsible for constructing a number of the city’s landmark buildings, including Flinders Link, the major office buildings of both Santos and IAG. The company has offices around Australia in Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne and Darwin as well as in Beijing and Shanghai.
“The major sponsorship brings direct investment and a new national and international relationship to our Australia’s premier cycling race.”

George Ochota, Hindmarsh General Manager SA & NT said, “Sponsoring the Most Aggressive Rider’s Jersey reflects the company’s commitment to support the local community coupled with a desire to participate in such an exciting, international event”.

“The Tour Down Under gives us a chance to promote the Hindmarsh brand to the general public. We consider this partnership a strategic opportunity for our business to create further business associations.”

The Tour Down Under’s Most Aggressive jersey will now be known as the Hindmarsh Most Aggressive Rider’s jersey, awarded to the rider who is judged to have instigated the most attacks, breakaways, or assisted their teammates to the best advantage during each stage.

“Hindmarsh is delighted and proud to be investing into the Tour Down Under’s success.

“We are looking forward to a long and prosperous relationship through our first real venture into event sponsorship with the Tour Down Under,” Mr Ochota says.

This announcement comes just after recent meetings in Italy to finalise the logistical details for South Australia’s Tour Down Under to stage the first ever ProTour cycling race outside of Europe next year.

The UCI ProTour 2008 Tour Down Under will be staged 22 – 27 January 2008 with the Down Under Classic being held on Sunday 20 January 2008 at Glenelg. For more information visit the official website at www.tourdownunder.com.au
