Stage 2 under construction

Hindmarsh has completed the project management of Stage 1 of this major project. The project involved a combination of special purpose and public buildings incorporating a state of the art laboratory facility including research support facilities and a public interface including display foyer, café and 200 seat theatre. The building makes an architectural statement with exciting facades including 3D digital relief precast concrete and dynamic structural stee/glass and aluminium features.

Stage 2 is now under construction.

Design and construct new apartment building demonstrating Hindmarsh's ongoing expertise and experience in new residential construction.  At the time of completion, this was the largest project of its kind in the ACT.

Design and construct new apartment building within the heart of Canberra City.

Construction of 142 residential apartment, 3000m2 of commercial office space, restaurant area, recreational facilities & four levels of basement carparking.  The project was successfully constructed on a difficult inner Canberra site with numerous constraints to be overcome in relation to materials handling and access provisions.

Base building heritage refurbishment of 26,000m2 and integrated fitout of 14,000m2 while the building was fully occupied by the Department of Treasury, plus fitout for the Department of Finance and Administration.

Design and construction of 117 apartments including basement carparking, recreational facilities, observation deck and central landscaped courtyard.

Embassy of Finland

Leading edge and award winning design and incorporation of ESD principles, this project involved a high level of detail and innovation.  The building façade is constructed mostly of glass, including flooring.  The heating system is geothermal and the timber finishing immaculate throughout.

Document and construct project which won Hindmarsh a major award for the MBA Excellence in Building 2002 Awards for the Project Exhibiting Technical Difficulty or Innovation above $1m value.  The success of this project can be recognised by the record numbers of public visitors to the new building and exhibition.

Design/construct conversion of a commercial building into 68 luxury apartments. Approximately 10,000m2 including extensive façade works, completed within budget and programme.

Aged persons development of 118 retirement units and associated community & recreational facilities.  The Grange is recognised as one of the highest quality prestigious retirement complexes in the ACT.

Design/construct conversion  of a commercial office building into 139 residential apartments over eight floors including underground parking, shops, gym, pool, bar and restaurants.

Addition of a tiered grandstand, upgrade of existing grandstand and associated amenities, including new corporate boxes, a corporate lounge on Level 5, back-of-house service area, landscaping and road entrance.  This project won an award for Hindmarsh for Technical Difficulty and Innovation.

Construction of a 3 level social club and an indoor sports facility.

Construction of a 620 seat capacity theatre.  The facility incorporates state of the art theatre technology where patrons are able to view productions from an auditorium and two elevated gallery levels.  The external finishes have a modern and exciting finish whilst internally the semi-circular theatre has great warmth and intimacy.  At the height of construction, the site employed up to 100 local tradespeople.

Additions and alterations to terminal facilities including new baggage handling and Qantas Members Club and Chairman's Lounge to a world class standard.  As the entry point to many visitors to Canberra, Hindmarsh ensured that the terminal was finished to the highest standards.  The project was completed with minimum disruption to the 24-hour-a-day airport operations.

Construction and fitout of 8,400 sq.m commercial office building which is an example of a modern, energy efficient building developed by Hindmarsh incorporating Platypus water management system and a state of the art BMS system programmed for exceptional efficiency.

Construction of a commercial office building and fitout for Dept of Education and Training.

Preparation of Project Brief, Project Management & Construction Management of 6000 sq.m refurbishment.

Construction of club/recreational facilities, extension and alterations to existing club.

Construction Adviser, Construction Manager for a new and extremely complex laboratory & office project of 17,600 m². The TGA undertakes the evaluation and testing of therapeutic goods in safe and sterile conditions before they are released onto the Australian market.
