Sustainability

Hindmarsh is leading with initiatives in sustainability and waste management in building and development projects.

  • Hindmarsh is a Member of the Gre en Building Council of Australia, with a number of Staff Qualified as Green Star Professionals.
  • Hindmarsh has built a number of energy efficient 5 Star commercial buildings including the Flinders Link Building in Adelaide, which was the first five star building in SA. Some recently completed buildings elsewhere are awaiting certification.
  • Hindmarsh has a number of significant buildings under construction, that exceed past expectations in energy efficiency, including the new Engineering Building at the University of Adelaide, which will be the first 6 Star General Purpose Building in Australia. The Fenner School at the Australian National University will also be the first 6 Star rated building on that campus.
  • Slated commercial developments by Hindmarsh Property on Constitution Avenue, Campbell and Woden Green ACT are designed to meet 5 & 6 Star ratings.
  • In the Residential Development sector, "Green Building" initiatives include investigating the use of advanced technologies for our residential apartment and retirement developments, including solar cell solar electricity generation, heat pumps for heating and cooling, greywater recycling, extra low power LED and fluorescent lighting technologies.
  • ezipark is undertaking a range of green initiatives for it's car parks and customers. Within the car parks, ezipark is currently rolling out power saving technologies to reduce energy consumption by up to 25%. Rain water harvesting and solar energy are further initiatives currently being investigated. In addition, ezipark is exploring ways to offer carbon offsets for it's permanent customers.
