It is the policy of all Hindmarsh businesses to prevent pollution and implement environmentally sustainable business practices. We take our role as an industry leader on ecologically sustainable development seriously, which is why we invest in initiatives to improve sustainability and waste management in all our building and development projects.
Construction
Hindmarsh is a Member of the Green Building Council of Australia, with a number of staff qualified as Green Star professionals. We have raised the benchmark for excellence in green building in Australia, building a portfolio of 5 and 6 Star energy efficient commercial developments including Innova21 at the University of Adelaide, the first 6 Star General Purpose Building in Australia and The Fenner School at the Australian National University which when accredited, will also be the first 6 Star rated building on that campus.
Development
In the residential and retirement development sectors, Green Building initiatives include investigating the use of advanced technologies for our residential apartment and retirement developments, including solar cell solar electricity generation, heat pumps for heating and cooling, greywater recycling, extra low power LED and fluorescent lighting technologies.
Parking
Hindmarsh Parking’s operating business, ezipark, is undertaking a range of green initiatives for its car parks and customers. Within the car parks, ezipark is currently rolling out power saving technologies to reduce energy consumption by up to 25%. Rain water harvesting and solar energy are further initiatives currently being investigated. In addition, ezipark is exploring ways to offer carbon offsets for its permanent customers.
ezipark, and its parent company, Hindmarsh have partnered with Better Place to build the infrastructure needed to charge electric cars across Australia. As a foundation member of this important initiative to reduce emissions, ezipark and Hindmarsh have demonstrated their commitment to reducing pollution in the interests of Australia’s long-term environmental sustainability.
Always seeking new ways to provide environmentally sustainable services, ezipark has secured one of the first of only 10 Mitsubishi i-Miev fully electric cars to arrive in South Australia to be used within their fleet of vehicles. The vehicle is charged inside our car parks, giving us the facility and experience to deliver electric vehicle charging solutions to our parkers in the future. The electric vehicle establishes ezipark as a leader in commitment to environmental sustainability across the parking industry. |
